For those in need

Let us pray for all of those who are in need today. Let us pray in a special way for all those affected by the collapse of the building in downtown Philadelphia.  We want to pray for those who have died that the Lord may receive them and give them comfort; for those who are affected with injuries that the Lord may heal them both mentally and psychologically; For all those who aided in the rescue that the Lord may strengthen them and help them know the peace and love that comes from helping others; for all those who are there today still digging through the rubble and helping to clean up that God may strengthen them to continue their task; and finally let us pray for all of us that we too may grow closer to Christ and that through our prayer know that we are helping others.  Oh Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to Thee.  Amen

Holy Environment

Today is the Feast of St. Boniface, the apostle to Germany. He is most noted for his conversion of thousands of people to Christianity by chopping down and Oak tree that symbolized a pagan god to the people.  He taught them as he does us today, nature praises God with its beauty and strength, but nature is not God.  Today is also the United Nations World  Environment  Day. How fitting that both feasts are on the same day. How is our personal environment? Is our environment praising God? Or do we try to make our environment a god by filling it with material things? Is it cluttered with  things so that God is not even thought of? Let us ask Mary immaculate to help us with our personal environment to make it like her environment – full of Grace. When Mary said "My soul proclaims the glory of God" she said it all, for all of us. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Friday's feast day

This coming Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This devotion and image of Jesus Christ was a favorite to St. Padre Pio. He had a daily prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is called the  Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The last line of each stanza prays:  O Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in you.  The whole  novena asks us to build our confidence in the Sacred Heart. His most Sacred Heart truly burns to love us more and more each day. Let Us prepare ourselves to receive the loving heart of our dear friend our brother our Savior Jesus Christ. Oh Mary conceived without sin pray For us who have recourse to thee.  Amen.

Memorial Day Daily

Today is Memorial Day. It is a day when we remember all those who sacrificed their lives so that we might be free. God originally gave Memorial Day to the Hebrews when they came out of Egypt at the time of the Passover.  So Memorial Day is a very ancient feast for when we "remember" we make present the power of that person or that action or whatever it is we are remembering.  We bring forth and experience again all that spirit and life.  Catholics are very lucky because they celebrate Memorial day every day they go to Mass when they make present the salvation and divine love of Jesus Christ sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection from death.  When we pray to Mary the Mother of God we make present in our hearts her wonderful love for us. She wants to take us to her divine son Jesus Christ and with us ask for all of our needs. What a wonderful mother we have in Mary Immaculate. O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to the.

Resentment & opinion

At my prayer group this morning we prayed the Litany of Humility.  One of the phrases prays:  from resenting that my opinion is not followed, Lord Jesus free me. Opinions are so important to us.  Everything that we do, of course, expresses who we are but an opinion seems to express more of who we are. It is born inside us.  An opinion falsely feels like it is made up of who & what we are. It is in that sense more personal to us.  Yet in fact it is only a thought, subject to error. When someone does not follow our opinion we feel rejected.  We resent that person because we assume that he rejects us & and not only our opinion.  Our opinion means more than it REALLY is- a thought.  It is not who we are.  The litany reminds us who we are - beloved of Jesus who's opinion of us is what matters, not our opinion. Jesus opinion of us is to love others as He loves us.  As we go about this day let us ask Jesus to help us so that what we say and do will show others that our opinion is that all is in the hands of our loving God. O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to thee.
